FLOAT INSPECTION CHECKLIST

Float Driver(s) must have this Inspection Checklist in his/her possession the day of the Grand Parade. Driver must check off and sign this Inspection Checklist and present it to the Grand Parade Safety Officials inspecting floats prior to the beginning of the Grand Parade.

______ ______ 5. Engine is clean of excessive oil and grease residue.
______ ______ 6. Float/Truck has a UL approved, 5lb Type AB Fire Extinguisher, which has been serviced, tagged and dated to within one (1) year by a fire extinguisher servicing company mounted on the right rear of the float.

7. Float/Truck has a UL approved, 5lb Type AB Fire Extinguisher, which has been serviced, tagged and dated to within one (1) year by a fire extinguisher servicing company within reach of the float driver.______ ______
8. For emergencies-a horn must be present.______ ______ 9. All decorative materials used must be flame retardant.
______ ______ 10. Brakes are in good working order. Tires have been checked for legal tread depth. Float is properly serviced with gasoline, oil and water. No extra gasoline may be carried on the float.
______ ______ 11. Towed trailers or towed floats must have safety cables or chains in place and attached to the towing unit: towing hooks, front and rear, are accessible and of sufficient strength for towing.
______ ______ 12. Exhaust pipe is free of leaks, extends at least 12 inches beyond the apron. Where the exhaust pipe is within 12 inches of the apron (any direction), the exhaust pipe is to be protected from lagging.
______ ______ 13. Each standing float rider must have approved body support. Seated riders safety will be assessed by the Grand Parade Safety Official.
______ ______ 14. Generators-Portable generators if used, need to be securely mounted. Approved installation needs to separate decorative materials and generator. Generators must be equipped with a metal exhaust. This could terminate, either in a common exhaust (vehicle and generator), or to extend to the exterior of the float same as the vehicle exhaust.
The above inspection has been made and to the best of our knowledge this float is acceptable for participation in the Marysville Strawberry Festival Grand Parade.
