School Activities  - I have put in thousands of hours to select volleyball teams, school volleyball and many camps and clinics. It has been a big part of my life growing up and it helped me learn how to be committed and work hard. My proudest achievement was winning a position on the Marysville Strawberry Festival Royalty Court this year. I will now be serving as one of the princesses for Marysville. We have already had some parades and it’s been the most fun and rewarding experiences I’ve ever had. I have also played the piano for several years and enjoy playing for fun along with my lessons I have had every Tuesday. I also love to paint and draw and in my spare time love to draw portraits and pictures for other people.

I have been involved in numerous activities and service in the community, at school and at church. I’ve been a member of the national honors society for two years which requires 6 hours of community service a semester. I also was the junior class treasurer and served as a member of the ASB class where we planned and organized all assemblies, fun raising events and so forth. I helped organize miracle on State Street. A cloth and food drive at Christmas for families in our community in need.

I attended several leadership conferences such as Mt. Adams leadership camp, a week long life changing experience where I learned to be a better person. I also was invited to attend WASC which stands for Washington association of student councils, a three day leadership conference. Here at Marysville Pilchuck high school I was inspired at Mt. Adams leadership camp to start a club called RAKE. Which stands for random acts of kindness etc. we have volunteered once or twice a month at Kellogg marsh to visit with the kids and help the kindergarteners with reading assignments and so forth.

Awards from school - I've received many honor awards for having high grades from in National Honors Society and other Award's Nights. I was also Athlete of the Year my Freshman year.

Community Involvement - I’ve also been the class president, secretary and councilor for my youth group at church where we spent many hours organizing and planning events. At church we performed many service projects including, putting together coloring books and making dolls as a relief effort in Africa, raked leaves and cleaned the house of a recently widowed women, fed the homeless at the homeless shelter in Everett and also put together meal bags for Thanksgiving. As well, a friend and I organized a clothing drive going door to door to receive clothes for homeless teens at the Cocoon house.

Continuing Education (College, Trade school, etc.) - A new beginning starts for me this September as I travel down to Idaho to attend BYU in pursuit of their highly competitive nursing program. I plan to get my bachelor's degree as a registered nurse and from there coming back to work at Providence Hospital and specializing in Labor and Delivery. This scholarship will help me achieve that goal because with scholarships I will be able to work less hours while I’m at school giving me more time to study and achieve my educational goals.

College Major - Nursing.

Why you decided to compete for the Royalty Court? I knew it would be a lot of fun. I also wanted to step out of my comfort zone and I knew performing would be something I wasn't comfortable with unless I got used to it. I also knew how excited little kids would get when you waved to them and talked to them. I didn't want to miss out on that cause no other opportunity really compares. Plus the scholarship money for college was definitely an advantage.

What experiences so far in the festival is something you will always remember? I've already gained so much confidence from it and believe in myself a lot more. I expect to be a better person and maintain high standards to well represent the City of Marysville. I used to remember when they used to throw out candy, but they don't do it anymore. Ha ha! Also just that the whole town comes together once a year, and this is the chance to see lots of people you haven't seen forever and just have fun.

Who is your role model and why?  Myself. Because I'm the only one who can really determine how I act and when I do things. I need to show myself that I can be a good example to others it only makes me want to continue to be a good person.

Your advice for future Royalty Candidates - If you don't feel like you're the right kind of person to do this or its out of your comfort zone. do it! Even if you don't win - it is so much fun and you learn a lot about yourself and what you're made of!
