BIOGRAPHIES

Royal Ambassador Stacey Taplin

Stacey Taplin is Maryfest’s 2004-2005 Royal Ambassador. She is a senior at Marysville-Pilchuck HS and involved in many activities at school such as Senior Class Vice President, Co-chairperson for Homecoming, Prom Committee, Honor Society and others.

Stacey was born in Pusan, Korea and with her parents, Sam and Char Taplin, has lived in Marysville for nearly all of her life.

She was an English Scholar of the Year, has won the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award and the Washington Assessment of Student Learning Award at MPHS. Stacey has also garnered awards from the community such as the Senior Student-of-the-Month form the Soroptimist and Kiwanis groups of Marysville.

In competing for Maryfest, Stacey knew that this would be a new challenge for herself. She loves being involved in leadership activities and enjoys representing the youth of Marysville.

As the Royal Ambassador, Stacey hopes to make many new friends and have FUN along the way. Meeting festival royalty and volunteers from other communities has been a highlight of the season thus far.

Her favorite memory of past Strawberry Festivals? It was when the royalty would go by on their respective floats representing communities from across the Northwest. She remembers the pretty dresses and sparkly crowns. She also loved it when parade participants would throw candy to the crowds! Yum!

Stacey enjoys being a role model for others and taking leadership opportunities as they arise.

She will be attending the University of Washington next fall and desires to major in Sociology or Psychology where she can help counsel kids.

Her advice for future Royalty candidates? Live it up! You get to wear a crown, dress up and everywhere you go – everyone is happy to see you. It is FUN! Try not to take it for granted or you will miss out on all of the friendships and fun that go along with it.
