SULTAN
Pictures to come!
by Carol Kapua:
I will try to do this fast as I got cut off the
last time. This last weekend we did 2 parades. Saturday was in Sultan. The crew
was Chuck, Kerri, Rick, Ricky, George, Dana, Nick, Teresa and Sara. They brought
back a very nice trophy from last year. So maybe we will get another one when we
go back next year.
Six of this crew Chuck, Kerri, George, Dana, Nick, and Sara turned around and
did the parade in Kent on Sunday. No rain on us. They were joined by Bobbi,
Judy, Jodi, Debbie, DC and myself. We received 2 awards in Kent. We got the
Queen's Award and the Crowd Pleaser Choice. Way to go Sara!
Thank you all so very much for going and helping!
Our next weekend is coming up and thanks to you all we have crews.
West Seattle will be Tom driving. The float will leave the caboose by 8am. Those
attending will be Rick, Kurt, Tamara, Hunter, George, Dana, Nick, DC, Sara,
Shelby, Azzlinn, Rebecca and myself. After this parade the Clayton family will
be leaving us. We will travel on to Olympia and pick up Greg on the way and will
be met by Jodi and Bobbi in Olympia and maybe some other festival friends.
It is nice to have extra people on such hot days.
After the parade the float will stay in Olympia for the night and the rest of us
will catch a ride with Teresa and come home.
Chinatown is the next day and we do not have the time set yet because the float
will be there and the bleachers will be going to Chinatown. Tom will leave after
the parade and catch a plane back home. In the middle of this is a memorial
service in Bellevue that a few of us will try to attend. It is the one for Don
Dodge a former Seafair Parade Marshal and Daffodillian.
The dress for West Seattle will be casual. Black shorts or pants, red
polos/shirts and black shoes. Olympia is red blazers, white shirts, black pants
and black shoes. If you do not have a blazer - black pants, black shoes and red
shirts.
It looks to be hot so there will be lots of water.
Janet, yes you did sign up for Chinatown.
Amy Edwards has finished her first round of chemo. She is in the hospital for 5
days and 3 weeks off and then starts over again. She has a great attitude. She
has a lot to live for - 2 kids, and caring and loving husband.
Heidi has now completed her chemo and is doing well. She has 3 children and a
wonderful and caring and loving husband too.
We wish them well and know that we will see them soon. Just remember we are
festival family. Good thoughts for you all.
As soon as I have the times nailed down I will get that out to you all.
Have a wonderful week. If you have not been on the parade circuit this year, you
really have missed out.
Take care you all.
