INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT

by Carol Kapua:

Chinatown was also hot but there was a great breeze blowing. Dropped the bleachers off and picked up the trailer and set the float up and then back to set up the bleachers and then we had an hour to find a resturant and eat dinner. We hit the jackpot this year.  It was half way back to the float and the food was very good, great service, and good price. There was only 11 of us at this parade... Kaija, Ella and Haley (they did an outstanding job again on the float). Rick, Teresa, Angie, Jodi, Chuck, DC and my banner carrier partner Darien. As soon as the we got through the parade we put the float away and Chuck and Darien and the Royalty van took the float to pier 25. Chuck came back and picked the rest of us up and we had the bleachers ready to load and we were home just around 11pm.

Thank you everyone for a job well done.

We have put together a work party for Friday to leave for Seattle at noon to set up the float and spruce it up a little. We need to get the speakers fixed so that they work and the trailer and Greg is going to be there to help us. Chuck and Greg feel they have the or know where the problem with the trailer legs is. Hopefully that is a problem that we will be able to make go away.

We have decided to have a FLOAT TAILGATE party on Saturday 7/31/10. We will invite all the floats that will be there to join us. Greg will have things set up for us by the time we get there. We have our awning, chairs and BBQ. We will start gathering around 2pm. Judging is at 3pm and the awards is at 6pm. We need to be done and picked up by 6pm as we start moving right after the awards.

We are asking the other festivals to bring whatever they want to BBQ and drink. It should be fun and a good way to bond with the other groups.

I am asking that you cut back on your big purses and anything else that you bring because we run short on storage space. Thank you for being considerate. If you have not let me know that you are going please let me know. Have a great week and enjoy the sun.
