SEQUIM

by Carol Kapua:

It was a beautiful day in Sequim. Not a cloud in sight. It was a very early morning. We left from the office at 5 am. In the van was Kaija, Haley, Ella, DC, Jodi, Sheila, Bobbi and Angie. Frank and Kate took the ferry over from Edmonds. Greg, Amy, Payton, Tylene, and a friend ( I know I would get it wrong) drove the truck and trailer.

It started off not good because they never received our application but never said anything to me when I called her during the week.  Came home and looked it up and I had made notes when I had called and faxed her another copy which was sent on 3/11/10. Oh well, we were in at #80.

The Royalty did it again. Everyone loves them. Before the parade, DC took them out and they are truly the ambassadors of this community. They are amazing.

We were judged and when they came back for a second time we had the kitchen set up and working and they were impressed and said that would be extra points if they were still judging us. We did get the Presidents Award which is second place.

After the float was put away we had lunch and hit the road to get Haley and Kaija home for Prom. Got them back in time. We had an incident on the way over when a vehicle decided to pass on a 2 lane highway. Had to swerve but was a little too close for me. On the way back a truck lost a hand truck and again we had to swerve to the side to avoid hitting it. We had the Man upstairs with us.

Like to thank everyone for all the help which included Darick Duncan who arrived before the parade started and helped us take it down and had lunch with us. Good to see him.

This weekend is Spokane.
